Freaks High: The first day.

After the long summer, and your trips here, the day has finally come. You walk up to the large school building with students and teachers alike moving around outside. The large, golden letters read "High School for the Supernaturally Gifted", marking this as the crown of the Supernatural Society. This attempt for human-supernatural cooperation is almost a beacon for all those with an open mind. Despite the mild Colorado morning, you come inside and are directed via signs to the Cafeteria. A large room with tables and hanging banners from various Supernatural clans. While some seats are taken by kids eating breakfast, it is relatively empty in here except for the booth titled "Schedule pickup and questions", which has young woman in flowing robes sitting there talking to students that are in the smallish line.

Kari really preferred Seattle to compared to the climate of Colorado. But she was requested to come after she had awakened her powers a few months ago, and her folks thought it would be a good experience.

Now living in a Studio Apartment, Kari just clothes, a medium sized bed, and a few personal belongings.

Sighing to herself, Kari got in line, munching on a breakfast burrito that she had made for herself.

Ugh. Too bright.

Sofi was standing in light, currently semi-miserable now that she was indoors (outside was full blown misery). She wasn't used to being up the early and the sun was just awful on her...well everything!

That was why even in mild weather she was bundled up so much, with her jacket, hood up and fully zipped, sunglasses over her eyes, scarf around her neck, gloves...no skin could be exposed to the sun if she could help it. The sun had always made her uncomfortable since the day she had turned, but it was also the one thing she missed most.

She waited patiently for her turn to get her schedule, restlessly stepping from foot to foot, like she couldn't stay still.

The line moves on, and after a minute the woman hands you your schedule of classes, a locker number and code, and a smile and "see you in class" before waving you on.

And that leaves you with the rest of the morning, maybe thirty minutes, to do what you want.

Sofi held her head, looking through her shades at her schedule. So tired...

She looked around, yawning very loudly. Maybe just a little nap before class... She spotted someone sitting eating a breakfast burrito. She walked up, sniffling, and saying "Hey I know this is weird and all, but can you like wake me up in 15 minutes?" She said in a British-esque accent.

Kari turned to see a rather pale girl dressed in heavy clothing, and it took the young brunette a moment to respond to a rather simple question. But eventually she gave a nod before finishing her meal. "yeah, sure. I can wake you up."

She nodded, smiling, her pointed teeth showing. Pretty polite for someone who just had a stranger walk up to her and ask such a weird question. "Cheers, bra." She settled down, smelling distinctly like febreeze, slipping her bag on the table and using it as a pillow as she layed her head down, monumentally happy to grab a nap while she could.

Kari silently watched and shrugged to herself, sitting across from the mysterious girl and continued to read her book. As she did, her stomach began to growl and another sigh escaped. Sometimes she hated her high metabolism.

Reaching into her pack once again, Kari pulled out an apple and began to munch on it.

Across the room, Kari would see a human girl stand up and walk out the door, leaving a young man sitting across from her there with a confused look as he calls, "What, I say something wrong?" before he rolls his eyes shakes his head

Kari saw the confused boy and took a glance at the pale being in front of her before walking up to her fellow student. "Are you okay?"

She quickly her apple and tossed it into the trash.

The boy looks up and shrugs, "Yeah, guess she didnt like me asking asking 'Hey, what powers have you got?' or something."

Kari gave a nervous laugh at that response. She then sat down, glancing at the napping girl for a moment before turning back to the boy. "Yeah...maybe some people are pretty personal about their powers. Which can be understandable apparently..."

He shrugs again, "I guess, its whatever. See ya later cutie." He says as he hefts his bag and heads out of the cafeteria.

Kari turned the same color as her tank-top as she watched the stranger walk away. She took a deep breath and went back over to the bench with the other stranger she had met. Sitting down, she continued her book.

Sofi snored quietly, out like a light, although her nose would flare every once in awhile like she was taking in some kind of smell. She was fidgeting in her sleep, her hands flexing, her claws slipping out and scraping lightly against the table.

The bell starts to ring, signalling the ten minute mark before classes start. The cafeteria starts to empty of students as people begin making their way around.

Kari listened to the bell and walked over the heavily clothed girl and gently shook her awake. "Hey, come on. Our class is beginning."

Sofi jumped, rapidly breathing, seeming confused by her surroundings for a moment before blinking and saying "oh....right." and looking at her hands, frowning as she got her stuff and hurried to class

They both arrive at class just in time to take their seats. Both of them sharing the same first class. Kari would see the boy and girl from earlier, granted sitting across the room from each other. There at also several other students, some more visible with their abilities like the stone man in the corner, and others just seeming like normal humans and indeed some may be.

But soon after settling in the teacher walks in and classes begin. Today being the first day most of the classes are introductions and basic lectures about what to expect and what the teacher expects of you. You both find that you also share the last class of the day, and all in all an easy first day and at 4PM the classes all wrap up and you are dismissed for the day. You are left walking the halls with the other students who are now talking between each other, greeting friends, and discussing after school plans or even weekend plans already.

Now that she was free from the clammy grasp of authoritarian conformity, sofi now had her earphones into her smart phone, playing a round of Pink Floyd.

All day she had been twitchy and jittery, even drawing comments from her teachers. She didn't mean to be that way...it was just how she was. The wait for lunch especially had been agony. Her pencil was scored with chew marks where she had made due with what was at hand. At lunch, she had sought to he by herself, as she noisily devoured her bologna life a ravenous animal.

That's why she ate outside away from everyone.

But now what to do? Luckily there was no homework today. The possibilities lay stretched out before her as she scuttled along...

School, felt normal for Kari. Which was strange, as she thought things would be a bit mkre on the weird side. Not that she was complaining, as she didn't want a sudden fight between supernatural people and humans.

Seeing Sofi, Kari walked up to her and tapped her shoulder gently, hoping that the girl would notice Kari. Upon getting her attention, Kari smiled while rubbing the back of her head. "Hey...would you like to get some KFC with me? It'll be my treat!"

Sofi twitched, jumping as she saw kari. Her body over reacting as usual. She slipped a bud out of her ear, and tilted her head. But then she heard magical words that insantly brightened her day. Free food, *and* fried chicken. Her favorite food since becoming a ghoul.

"Well who would i be to say no, chum?" She patted karis back. "Awful generous of ya i gotta say." Already she was drooling at the thought of the food...

Kari gave a smile to the young girl, seeing that her proposal had clearly caught her attention. The pink-clad girl also couldn't help but notice that Sofi was drooling (they shared the same classes so she had caught it during their introductions).

"Okay, let's go then." She said, gesturing her to follow. And by the point that theybreaxhed the KFC, she said. "Get whatever you want. Money isn't an issue for me."

"Well aren't you lucky?" Sofi said, clearly more than eager to get there. Well how often was Sofi going to get a chance like this?

Waiting in line and getting to the counter she would obviously seem buggy, breathing rapidly, eyes periodically twitching. At the promise of food like this her stomach growled loudly, and she gripped her jacket tightly. Unfortunately for the counter guy, her sunglasses would be off, her eyes starting to dilate.

"Gimme a bucket. Extra crispy." She said, drool moving down her chin, looking like an albino crack addict.

Kari's blue eyes would widen upon seeing how eager the girl was, and it seemed like food was a very important thing to her. Taking a deep breath, she began to speak for the pale teen.

"I'd like the sixteen piece bucket, extra crispy. And I'll let her decide which of the four sides she would like...as for me. I'll just have a three piece with double mash potatoes."

Kari then went to go sit down while the girl decided what sides she wanted. The blue eyed girl just ordered for her a meal big enough for five people, if not more. Yet she was certain she was about to see it all gone in a matter of minutes.

"I guess this is a unique world I've been introduced to." She said to herself, waiting for their food.
